Through Time Chapter 23

“Long’er, meet your Grandfather Wang, and Uncle Wang.”

Qin Shi Huang was introduced.

Zhao Lang greeted the two at once.

By this time Wang Jian had already returned to his senses, and looking at the young man before him, he could not help but ask Qin Shi Huang that

“Your Majesty… Brother Zhao, is this the young man?”

Qin Shi Huang nodded his head and said, with a little pride, that

“Well, it is none other than my son Zhao Lang.”

Wang Jian, however, revealed a look of pity.

Right now the Great Qin did not yet have a crown prince, and Qin Shi Huang had not shown any willingness to do so.

As a great general of the court, he would not normally have intercourse with an imperial son.

In his position anyway, he would be safe and sound no matter who came to the throne.

It would just be a pity to have a general in that position.

Now he doesn’t even have the desire to ask about it.

Wang Jian looked at his own son Wang Ben, and sure enough, the other man also shook his head covertly.

It seemed that they were of the same opinion.

Qin Shi Huang, however, smiled as if he had not noticed these anomalies at all, and said

“Lang’er, I heard from Uncle Fu that you’ve got something fresh again, show me.”

Without hesitation, Zhao Lang led a few people towards the training grounds.

He himself had even given his old man the art of papermaking and printing, and there was nothing wrong with this training method.

It was just as well to get more funding.

It’s good to be prepared.

When you arrive at the small converted courtyard, you look at the interior.

Even though he had already seen it once, he could not help but feel a few emotions and asked.

“Long’er, is this where you take the teenagers to train on a regular basis?”

Zhao Lang nodded his head in the affirmative.

Then he spoke in detail about the training methods and the role of each item.

It was not far from what Wang Jian had guessed before.

Qin Shi Huang nodded his head as he listened and asked

“Can we have them come over for a rehearsal?”

Zhao Lang, however, shook his head and said

“Father, it’s only after lunch, it’s not suitable for strenuous exercise, and they have lessons in the afternoon.”

“It’s the right time to rest.”

Zhao Lang brought the nap, a good habit, with him.

At this moment, a trace of surprise flashed in the eyes of Wang Ben, who was on the side, and couldn’t help but ask

“These teenagers still have to read and learn to write?”

Zhao Lang nodded as a matter of course, but found that all of them, including his cheap old dad, looked puzzled.

Thinking that in the future, if they really wanted to rebel, these people would be the backbone, and they had to be shown the importance of the army being educated.

So explaining that

“In fact, whether it’s a general or a junior soldier, being able to read and recognise words will help them understand the operational intentions of their superiors and carry out orders better.”

This knowledge was still something Zhao Lang had learnt from one of the greatest, bar none, armies of all time.

Hearing this, Wang Ben frowned and said

“As long as the general knows the art of war, the soldiers will just follow orders, reading and recognising words will instead make them think willy-nilly.”

Watching several people arguing, Qin Shi Huang not only didn’t stop them, but also looked amused and watching the fun.

Zhao Lang returned, defiantly

“It’s good for soldiers to obey orders as their natural duty.”

“But an army with culture and faith is truly an undefeated army!”

“Otherwise, it would be nothing more than some cold-blooded killing machine.”

Zhao Lang’s words were categorical, because he had seen that army with his own eyes.

An average army with a battle loss of 30% would basically collapse.

But in that army, there were teams that had battle losses of even ten percent!

That’s when the whole team dies in battle!

Not even one man retreated!

Because everyone knew what they were fighting for!

Wang Ben still wanted to retort, but Wang Jian, who was at the side, could not help but say, as his eyes let out a brilliant light at that moment

“You’re talking about the spirit of the army!”

Zhao Lang looked at the old man and was a little surprised that someone really understood, so he nodded and said.

“Exactly.”

Wang Jian had a sudden wetness in his eyes at this time, he was an old Qin man.

He had always remembered when he was still young.

The old Qin sang songs as they marched out, and his father and brother were in them.

He felt then that that army had a soul.

And when the Great Qin unified the world, this military soul became extremely thin instead.

Thinking of this, Wang Jian even said that

“Well, well! Well said!”

But this made Wang Jian even more painful.

If Zhao Lang was just a little talented, he would have let it go, after all, what dynasty didn’t have a few buried geniuses.

He had never imagined that Zhao Lang’s understanding of the army had reached such a level!

In some ways, it was even better than his own son, Wang Ben!

With a little guidance, given time, he would certainly be a great master of his generation!

How could he let go of him?

Zhao Lang was also a bit baffled.

The way this old man looked at him was too strange, happy one moment, painful the next, and with a few hints of affection.

Zhao Lang looked at his cheap old man.

“This isn’t Uncle Wang from the house next door, is it?”

Qin Shi Huang took all this in and couldn’t help but feel a tinge of smugness in his heart.

My son, is it not for you soldiers to want what you want?

Of course, if he knew what Zhao Lang was thinking, he certainly wouldn’t mind hanging up and beating him up.

“Long’er, your grandfather Wang and the others have been running around all morning and are a bit tired.”

“Let’s call it a day.”

Qin Shi Huang said.

Zhao Lang nodded his head, just as it was almost time for class to begin.

“Father, I’ll go to class first then.”

Only after Zhao Lang had left did Qin Shi Huang say, with a few moments of smugness

“Two generals, how is my Long’s son?”

Wang Jian said at this point with a serious face that

“Gongzi Lang is a great talent!”

“But I do not know why Your Majesty has never mentioned Gongzi Lang?”

Speaking of this, a hint of embarrassment flashed across Qin Shi Huang’s face.

Having a son outside himself was not a very good reputation after all.

He could only give a vague explanation, and then explained that

| “Long’s son has always thought that I am building up my strength to rebel, so the two generals must not let it slip. ”

When Wang Jian heard this, he only felt that it was absurd.

What kind of emperor brings his own son to rebel.

“Your Majesty, this is not according to etiquette.”

Wang Jian was also an old minister, and did not accept these things at once.

Qin Shi Huang smiled and said.

“Wouldn’t you like to see who is stronger and who is weaker between the army trained by Long’er in this way and the Great Qin army?”

A hint of hesitation appeared on Wang Jian’s face at once.

“But…”

Qin Shi Huang pulled out the killer at this point and said that

“The son of Qin Shi Huang, the emperor, is an imperial son, so naturally he cannot enter your military family.”

“But my son, Zhao Zheng, is only a rebel, so feel free to do so.”

Hearing these words, the hesitation on Wang Jian’s face disappeared almost instantly, and he said that

“Brother Zhao, where is this coming from.”

“How can we be called rebels? We are righteous warriors against the Qin!”

At these words, Qin Shi Huang and Wang Jian burst out laughing almost simultaneously.

They left Zhao Gao and Wang Ben at the side with a dumbfounded look on their faces.
